About Transition Prince Rupert Society

Even if I knew that tomorrow the world would go to pieces, I would still plant my apple tree.

– Martin Luther King

Transition Prince Rupert began in January 2011 when a small group of passionate individuals were brought together in a local coffee shop by a common vision: a community resilient and adaptable enough to withstand the pressures of global resource depletion, climate change, and economic contraction. Since then, Transition Prince Rupert has continued to build a wave of momentum and support.

We are a leadership development organization that is committed to positive change in the community. We are a solutions-based group that focuses on empowerment of leadership and inspiration through unique community projects. The aim is to follow the global Transition model which is a published book called “The Transition Companion”  via the Transition Network, which is based in the UK. Please see Transition 101 for more information.

Our Mission

To engage with and inspire individuals and organizations in Prince Rupert to collectively create a resilient community that has the adaptive capacity to respond to the challenges of global environmental and economic instability.
